Look out for Elderly Neighbours

East Antrim MLA Alastair Ross has said that it is important for people to look out for their elderly neighbours, particularly during this unusually cold winter period.

Commenting today from Parliament Buildings, Mr Ross said,

“During extremely cold snaps of weather it is most dangerous for those in our community who are frail or unwell. It is also difficult for them to get out and about as it is so cold and the conditions on the ground are often hazardous. The risk of hypothermia is greatest amongst the elderly and that is why it is important that we all look out for our neighbours and ensure that they are keeping warm and have enough food in their homes. People should look out for warning signs such as milk not being taken in from the doorstep, a pile up of letters and post or curtains not being opened for days. “
