ROSS URGES ATTENDANCE AT A8 ROAD CONSULTATION

East Antrim MLA and Regional Development Committee member Alastair Ross has today welcomed the news that the upgrade of the A8 has passed on to the next phase of development.

Commenting Mr Ross said, ‘The A8 road is a very important road for this constituency and in desperate need of this upgrade. Despite fears that funding may not have continued for this project, I am happy to hear that this is now not the case.

There is an opportunity for residents to attend a consultation event which will be held at the Corr’s Corner Hotel, 315 Ballyclare Road, Newtownabbey on Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 November. This consultation will be running from 1pm until 9pm.

It is vitally important that people attend this event if they have any issues with the development of the A8 and use this to air their views.

It should also be considered that this is an important strategic route, used by many which will undoubtedly reduce the travel times to and from Belfast.

I hope that the A8 development will continue and will do so without delays in order to provide a high quality and safe road for many road users.’
