McKEOWN COMMENTS DISGRACEFUL SAYS ROSS 

Comments by UNISON’s Patricia McKeown in which she congratulated those who ripped down the Union Flag from Belfast City Hall and erected an Iraqi flag in its place are ‘nothing short of an absolute disgrace’ says the DUP MLA Alastair Ross.  
 

Speaking from Parliament Buildings this morning Mr Ross said,

 
“Ms McKeown’s comments were nothing short of a disgrace, and UNISON should immediately distance themselves from the comments. There will be many UNISON members who are outraged by her comments and who may also have brave sons or daughters who are fighting to protect the people of Iraq alongside our American allies.

 
UNISON should make it clear if they endorse the comments made by Ms McKeown who seems to detest the Union Flag and the role that our local troops are playing in some of the most dangerous parts of the world.”
