SIR REG IS THE RUNAWAY BRIDE 

DUP MLA Alastair Ross has likened UUP Leader Sir Reg Empey to the runaway bride who goes so far up the aisle with other political parties and then runs away at the last minute.  

Commenting this morning from Stormont Mr Ross said, 

“During Sir Reg’s leadership of the UUP we have seen him participate in what can only be described as political speed dating. Despite the fact that he was cool on discussions on unionist co-operation with DUP leader Peter Robinson, he has spent his entire leadership trying to link up with other political parties.  

First of all he courted the PUP in the Assembly, then he tried strengthening links with the SDLP, next on the list was merging with the Conservatives and now it seems he has decided to try a pact with the TUV!  

Sir Reg is little more than a runaway bride who goes so far up the aisle with other political parties before running away at the last minute. The news that he and Jim Allister have decided to join together in some kind of pact is the latest announcement from UUP headquarters.  

One must wonder, which party is next for Sir Reg?”
