In March 2007 the Northern Ireland
electorate chose the Democratic Unionist Party to represent them at Stormont,
confirming our position as Northern Ireland's largest and leading Unionist
Party.
The 36 MLA's returned to the
Northern Ireland Assembly built on the 2005 General Election which saw our
Westminster representation grow to 9 MP's and 3 Peers in the House of Lords.
The DUP is the voice of mainstream traditional Unionism and our aim is to
secure, uphold and maintain the constitutional position of Northern Ireland
as an intergral part of the United Kingdom.

DUP Party Conference 2006
We also stand for maintaining and imposing the rule of law of Northern
Ireland so that all citizens are not only equal under the law but are
equally subject to it.
The Democratic Unionist Party also aims to devise and urge a policy of
social betterment and equal opportunity for all sections of the community in
terms of economics, education and social welfare.
